For those who remember the medieval dental office environment complete with chemical smelling reception areas, torture chamber looking treatment rooms, and the never-ending whine of the dentist’s drill, it may be hard to imagine what a different world awaits you here at our internationally-acclaimed Dental Spa. Unlike the typical harsh feel and smell of most dental offices, our practice has tried to create an ambiance reminiscent of a spa at fine upscale resort. Widely covered by media all over the world, the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry is perhaps the world’s leading pioneer in the spa dentistry concept.
An Authentic Dental Spa
While a number of other dental offices have “jumped on the bandwagon” so to speak, they really have only taken a typical dental office, lit some candles, added some flowers and flat screen TVs, and then called themselves a “dental spa.” The first thing a dental spa needs is massage, and that is an integral part of the dental services we provide at the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry. In fact, we are the first and only dental office in the State of Georgia that we are aware of that has on staff the services of a full-time massage therapist. And to top it off, most of the massage services are provided complimentary for our guests. Dental treatments are performed in our very own “Dental Zen Chairs” which send soothing sound waves from your head to toes. With a complete spectrum of relaxing comforts, from warm neck pillows, cozy blankets, noise-cancelling headphones to listen to your favorite music, or escaping into a movie on one of our chairside flat screen TVs, the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry has reinvented the way dental services are delivered.
Why a Dental Spa?
These unique features are not just feel-good amenities. We’ve found that our massages directly related to a patient’s dental treatment and other spa touches actually have the effect of reducing the amount of anxiety and anesthetic typically present in a dental visit. We are not alone in this finding. Studies published in dental journals such as the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) confirm the benefits of massage and other spa amenities in the dental office. As a result of using massage therapy and other spa features during dental treatment, findings show patients have a more positive response to treatment, and pre-sedations and sedations are reduced dramatically. Patients who are relaxed have quicker recovery times as well. Aromatherapy can also have calming properties and can refresh patients after dental treatment. Establishing a relaxed atmosphere, communicating in a soft voice and using a gentle touch go a long way toward helping patients relax.
At the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry we are committed to the goal of making your next dental health experience a stress-free, restful, and yes, even enjoyable. The reception area is accented with comfortable furnishings, flowers, oil paintings, and a refreshment center with coffee, tea, bottled water, juice and cookies fresh-baked on site. This immediately tends to relax guests anticipating a dental visit. Scented aromatherapy candles burn in various corners of many rooms. Instead of nurses in scrubs, cheerful dental concierges dressed in designer outfits greet clients by name. The bottom line — we not only want you to love your new smile, but to enjoy the process. Most importantly, our entire team wants to make sure you’re comfortable at all times.
