Our Philanthropy: Giving Back to Charitable Causes

At the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, giving back to charitable organizations – both around the world and in the Atlanta community — plays an important role in our philosophy of how we do business.

Many times, our giving back is hands on. Dr. King and Dr. Cooper and some of our team members have traveled to places such as the Dominican Republic to provide dental care to underprivileged children, through Smiles for Life. Dr. Debra King may be found walking in the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Walk or putting siding on a house for the Habitat for Humanity project. Dr. Cooper may be found raising money for Charity Clays or making free mouthguards to help youth athletes protect against oral injuries at Chastain Park Northside Youth Organization (NYO).

Smiles for Life

Smiles for Life is a non-profit organization that raises money for seriously ill, disabled, and underprivileged children. Over the past few years, the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry has raised over $130,000 for this charity by providing professional teeth whitening with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity.

Bert’s Big Adventure

We are presently partnering with Stacey and Bert Weiss of Q100’s The Bert Show. Bert’s Big Adventure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides a spectacular five day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with a chronic and/or terminal illness and their families. This trip and the year round programs that follow each adventure allow participants to:

  • Experience events and venues that otherwise could not be afforded
  • Establish lasting friendships with others facing similar challenges,
  • Enjoy the gift of intimate family time together where the focus turns from living with an illness to making magical moments.

Boys & Girls Club of Atlanta

During Christmas, instead of buying gifts for each other, we buys toys for underprivileged kids and Santa Clause makes a visit to a party that we host through the Atlanta Boys and Girls Clubs to distribute the gifts. It is amazing how much of a blessing it is for everyone involved.

Atlanta Union Mission

Also around Christmastime, we have a coat drive for the Atlanta Union Mission. And we often visit homeless shelters to distribute food and clothing to bring some cheer and warmth to those there.

St. Pius High School Football Team Mouthguards Donation

Being an avid fan of local football, Dr. Cooper has teamed up with the St. Pius Golden Lions by providing custom pro-style mouthguards to the varsity team. The staff at the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry volunteered their time to form and fabricate mouthguards for the team

Give Back a Smile Program – The AACD Foundation

The Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry has been proud to be a participating dentist in the Give Back a Smile program for many years. This program, which helps raise awareness of victims of domestic abuse, aims to do so by fixing the survivors teeth at no charge. Its philosophy and positivity stems from the belief that in giving back to the community with our gifts we can truly appreciate our lives and feel enriched. The Give Back a Smile program is a charitable foundation of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a prominent national dental association committed to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. Through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation (AACDCF), the Give Back a Smile program is dedicated to providing cosmetic dental care at no cost to survivors of domestic violence.

Miles for Life Ride

Every year, the Crown Council and Smiles for Life Foundation host an event that combines top-shelf dental CE with the love for Harley-Davidson motorcycle touring. By day, we explore some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery. Evenings, we gather with our profession’s foremost authorities. All proceedings from this ride are donated to the Smiles for Life Campaign.
